The UK Border Agency carried out a spot check visit to City College Coventry on 28 January 2011. The purpose of the visit was to make sure that the College is complying with the necessary checks, rules and requirements of the Tier 4 (General Student) Highly Trusted Sponsor status (HTS). The UKBA was very pleased with the visit and did not recommend that any changes need to be made to the way the College works. This is very good news as it confirms that City College Coventry remains at the highest category level of sponsor. The College will continue to welcome any prospective overseas students to apply to the College degree or any below degree level courses as HTS status will help the genuine overseas students to obtain a Tier 4 student visa.
Stratford-upon-Avon College also had a successful check visit by UKBA recently.
Since 2010, all UK educational institutions must be licensed and only the Highly Trusted Sponsors can recruit non- EEU students to study the below degree level courses. Both City College Coventry and Stratford-upon-Avon Colleges are Tier 4 (General student) Highly Trusted licensed sponsors. Stratford-upon-Avon College is also the Tier 4 (Child) HTS Sponsor and can welcome students who are under 16 to apply to full time EFL, A Level, BTEC etc programmes.
